
Swansea Comes Alive as Thousands Celebrate Record-Breaking Day at the Mizuno Swansea Half Marathon 2026
Thousands of runners and spectators turned Swansea into a sea of colour, noise and celebration today as the Mizuno Swansea Half Marathon 2026 delivered another unforgettable day of racing, personal achievement and community spirit.
With dry conditions and a brisk coastal breeze greeting participants, runners from across the UK and beyond took to the start line before powering through the city and along the iconic Swansea Bay route, cheered on by thousands of supporters lining the course from start to finish.
The city came alive as packed cheer zones, live entertainment, and a buzzing Race Village created a festival atmosphere at one of Wales’ largest mass participation sporting events. This year’s race marked a significant milestone as global sports brand Mizuno became headline sponsor for the first time, helping elevate the event to new heights and further strengthening its reputation as one of Wales’ premier road races.
Elite Athletes Shine
The men’s race was won by Omar Ahmed in an impressive 1:03:42, ahead of Jonathan Butler of Swansea Harriers in 1:06:07, with Charlie Jones of Western Tempo securing third place in 1:06:48.
In the women’s race, Olympian and fifth fastest British female marathon runner of all time Rose Harvey set a new half marathon record for the race by taking the victory win in 1:11:58. In second place was Tracy Barlow who beat her previous course record at the event with a superb performance finishing in 1:13:19, while Chelsea Baker claimed third place in 1:14:04.
A Weekend for the Whole Family

The celebrations extended beyond the half marathon itself, with hundreds of children and families taking part in the Freedom Leisure Family Fun Run powered by the LC Swansea.
Joined by crowd favourites Tommy the Turtle and Ozzie the Osprey, young runners brought extra energy and excitement, creating smiles, high-fives and memorable moments throughout the morning. The popular 2K event once again showcased the family-friendly spirit of the weekend and the inspired the future athletes of today.
Personal Bests and Powerful Stories

Beyond the podium, the day belonged to the thousands of runners who achieved personal bests, completed their first-ever half marathon or raised vital funds for charity. From seasoned club runners to first-time participants, the finish line was filled with emotion, celebration and achievement.

Race Director Tash Smith said:
“The atmosphere today was absolutely incredible. From the elite athletes at the front to every runner crossing the finish line, there were so many inspiring stories out on the course. Seeing people achieve personal bests, complete major goals and receive such amazing support from the Swansea crowd is what this event is all about.”

The event also showcased the incredible impact of charity fundraising, led by headline charity Shelter Cymru. They were joined by charity partners Maggie’s Swansea and Morgan’s Army, whose teams inspired runners and spectators alike while raising awareness and vital funds for their causes.

As celebrations continued across Swansea Bay long after the final finishers crossed the line, the 2026 Mizuno Swansea Half Marathon will be remembered for its outstanding performances, incredible atmosphere and the thousands of people who helped bring the city to life.
