Thousands Set to Descend on Swansea as the Mizuno Swansea Half Marathon 2026 Achieves A Record-Breaking Summer of Running.

The countdown is officially on for the return of the Mizuno Swansea Half Marathon, as thousands of runners, spectators and supporters prepare to transform the Swansea Bay coastline into one of the UK’s biggest celebrations of running, wellbeing and community sport.
This year marks the 12th edition of the Mizuno Swansea Half Marathon — and it’s set to be the biggest yet, with a record number of athletes registered.

Taking place on Sunday 7th June 2026, the award-winning race is expected to attract its largest-ever field, with organisers forecasting record participation levels amid the continued boom in UK running culture. The event has rapidly established itself as one of Britain’s must-run half marathons and as testament to this, it will host the prestigious Masters International Road Championships, welcoming 216 Masters Athletes from Wales, England, Northern Ireland and the UK Armed Forces teams.
With the global rise in demand for mass participation running events — including record-breaking entries — Swansea has positioned itself as Wales’s premier summer running festival.
Organisers say the 2026 event will build on the electric atmosphere and coastal scenery that has helped the race earn a reputation as one of the fastest and most scenic half marathons in the UK.
“This event is about much more than 13.1 miles,” said Race Director Tash Smith of Front Runner Events. “The Mizuno Swansea Half Marathon has become a celebration of Swansea itself — the energy, the community spirit, the coastline and the incredible people who come together every year, to make race day unforgettable.”
A City-Wide Festival Atmosphere

Inspired by the festival feel and community-first approach, organisers are promising an even bigger race-day experience in 2026, featuring:
- Live music and entertainment zones across the course
- Cheer stations from community groups, sports clubs and charities
- A vibrant event village
- Family Fun Run with the Freedom Leisure and mascots
- A warm Welsh welcome in the village of Mumbles
The Swansea event is expected to deliver significant economic impact for the region, with hotels, restaurants, cafés and local businesses set to benefit from a major influx of visitors during race weekend.

Running Boom Continues Across the UK
The popularity of half marathons has surged dramatically, driven by growing interest in health, wellbeing, community fitness and social running culture. Trends are showing that younger runners and women are now among the fastest-growing demographics and that’s reflected this year in Swansea.
The 2026 event will once again welcome runners of all abilities — from elite competitors targeting personal bests on the flat, fast course to thousands taking on their first-ever half marathon challenge.
The Sponsors Behind the Start Line

The event is made possible thanks to the support of sponsors and partners including:
Global sportswear brand Mizuno, who are headlining the event and will host race day activations in the event village. Matthews and co chartered accountants, sponsors of the Corporate Challenge who’ll be leading the teams going head-to-head to win the title of fastest business. Official Hydration Partners at Brecon Carreg, will be on hand to keep runners well-hydrated, along with official vehicle partners at Gravells, who will be leading the way with their electric car on the route managed by Core Highways.

Elite Racing Meets Community Spirit
While the race is renowned for its stunning route along Swansea Bay, it has also become known for producing fast times and attracting high-calibre athletes elevating Swansea’s profile on the UK running calendar.
The event will also continue its partnerships with local organisations, schools and community initiatives to ensure the benefits of race weekend extend far beyond the finish line.

Charity Running
This year’s headline charity partner Shelter Cymru will lead a passionate team of runners raising funds to help end homelessness in Wales. They’ll be joined by the inspirational teams from Maggie’s Swansea, Morgan’s Army, and Cancer Research Wales bringing incredible energy and purpose to race day. You’ll also spot the faces of Shane Williams and Ian Gough who’ll be raising funds for local charity, Ospreys In The Community.

With demand for UK half marathons at an all-time high, underlining the explosive growth of community running nationwide, entries to the event have sold out. However, for those still wanting to take part, they can still do so, by running for one of the official charities.
Over the years, the race has helped raise millions of pounds for charitable causes, making every stride count, in more ways than one. Demonstrating that this event is more than running, it’s a celebration of community, resilience and making a difference. So, get involved, run, volunteer or cheer and be part of the atmosphere too!
